Tom Cardwell (Club President) presenting the

Senior Trophy to Henry Arthur

Corby Town TTC Club Tournament 2015

This year we introduced a new format to the end of season club tournament, breaking the event into three evenings - Senior Event, Junior Event (first time this has been played) and a Handicap Event.

The Senior event was played as a group stage with the top two players in each group going through to the knock out stage.  The clubs top three players all made themselves available to play with the seeding following the league rankings, Lee O'Boyle 1, Chris Haynes 2 and Henry Arthur 3.  Henry was the defending champion, and made it safely through to the Semi final where he faced Chris.  The match was a hard fought battle which resulted in the defending champion squeezing out Chris 11-9, 13-15, 18-16, 13-11.

The other semi final saw the number one seed Lee play the up and coming Kyle Murie. The first end was a close run with Lee taking it 12-10 after which Lee ran away with the match 11-6,11-6.

The Final of Lee and Henry (a repeat of last years semi-final) saw a similar result with Henry taking the game 11-8, 11-9, 13-11.

The Junior tournament was an inaugural event in 2015 and was well supported with 10 of our junior members taking part. The event was played as two groups of 5 with the final positions in each group playing their equal counterpart of the other group to decide the positions from 1-10. The top spot went to Aleksis Baltmanis after a close fought final with Dylan Debell.

The Handicap was played on a seperate evening to the Seniors for the first time this year and unforetunately was only supported by 5 of our senior players.  This gave us the opportunity to play a round robin event with the handicaps as follows, Lee O'Boyle (Scr), Chris Haynes (Scr), Henry Arthur (Scr), Dan Botrill (+10) and Tom Cardwell (+13).

The event ended up on match results as a three way tie between each of the premier division players, Lee, Chris and Henry as each of them had only lost one match, Chris lost to Henry, Henry lost to Lee and Lee lost to Chris.  The title was decided on positive games difference which awarded the title to Chris who dropped just one game all evening.
